Hi! I'm Lauren Ogles. I am the creator of Get Cooking Kid. I developed this program through 4-H. My ultimate goal is to go to culinary school and become a chef. My dream is coming true!!!! One of those goals has come true. As of August 14th, I am a Freshman at the John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University in Louisiana!!!

Thanks to the Northeast Chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association, the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Director, and the National Restaurant Association for their scholarship support in making my dreams come true!!!!

How did you become passionate about healthy eating?
When I was in the 4th grade, I joined 4-H. I chose nutrition as a project. It has just grown from there. I was a member of the Louisiana State Food and Fitness Board. Our goal is to teach others in our community about healthy lifestyles.

Do you have a favorite healthy meal to make?
Waffle Pizza!! It is the favorite at the workshop.

What healthy staples do you always keep in your pantry or fridge?
Cheese - the ultimate snack food! Vitamin Water, yogurt, and frozen bananas.

What one thing can other people do to make a difference when it comes to health and nutrition?
When you go out to eat, share a meal with a friend. Restaurants usually overload the plate and there is usally more than two servings on the plate. It saves you money and keeps you healthier.
